Valor University is committed to maintaining an educational environment free from sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation. In accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and applicable federal and state law, Valor University prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in its education programs and activities.

Title IX states:

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Valor University takes reports of sex-based discrimination and harassment seriously and responds in accordance with applicable law and University policy.

Reporting a Concern

Anyone who believes they have experienced, witnessed, or become aware of conduct that may violate Title IX may report the concern to the Title IX Coordinator.

Reports may be made by email.

Making a report does not require an individual to file a formal complaint. Individuals may also seek assistance from law enforcement or other community resources.

If you are in immediate danger or need emergency assistance, call 911.

Supportive Measures

A person who reports sex discrimination or sex-based harassment may be eligible for supportive measures, whether or not they choose to file a formal complaint.

Supportive measures are individualized, non-disciplinary services or accommodations intended to help an individual continue to participate in the University's educational programs and activities.

Depending on the circumstances, supportive measures may include:

  • Academic or workplace adjustments;

  • Changes to class schedules;

  • Safety measures;

  • Counseling or community-resource referrals; or

  • Other appropriate accommodations.

Supportive measures are provided as appropriate and reasonably available under the circumstances.

Formal Complaints and Resolution

An individual may choose to file a formal complaint when the applicable Title IX process permits.

When a formal complaint is filed, Valor University follows its applicable grievance procedures. Those procedures explain the steps of the process, the rights and responsibilities of the parties, opportunities to provide information and evidence, and available resolution options.

The University will conduct Title IX processes in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements and University policy.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Valor University respects the privacy of individuals who report concerns and participate in Title IX processes.

Information related to a report or complaint will be shared only as permitted or required by law and as reasonably necessary to provide supportive measures, respond to the concern, conduct a grievance process, or meet legal obligations.

Individuals who want to discuss their experience with someone who may be able to maintain confidentiality may be referred to appropriate confidential resources, such as qualified counseling or healthcare professionals, when available.

Retaliation Is Prohibited

Retaliation has no place in the Title IX process.

Valor University prohibits retaliation against anyone who:

  • Reports sex discrimination or harassment;

  • Files or participates in a Title IX complaint;

  • Provides information or evidence; or

  • Exercises rights protected by Title IX.

Retaliation is a separate violation of University policy and may result in disciplinary action.

A person who makes a good-faith report or complaint will not be subject to disciplinary action simply because the report is not ultimately substantiated. Knowingly providing materially false information, however, may violate University policy.

Training

Valor University provides Title IX-related training to applicable personnel as required by law. Information regarding required training and applicable training materials will be made available through the University's Title IX office or website as appropriate.

Individuals may also contact the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights to obtain information about Title IX or to file a complaint.
